When Vanessa Felix started the Womxn Empowerment Club during her junior year, she knew that Animo Inglewood Charter High School was divided by social cliques. The club’s mission was to provide the school’s young women with a confidential space in which they could freely talk about gender-related issues, and to propel it forward, Felix researched other similar organizations heavily and raised funds for feminine hygiene products for women’s shelters.
