Green Dot Public Schools Tennessee Re-Entry Updates 11/08

Thank you for working with us through distance learning. This has been a learning opportunity for all who are a part of this organization. We appreciate the trust you’ve placed in us to educate your student and prepare him/her for college, leadership and life. In the past weeks, we have shared the GDPST Planning for Return document that outlined the general process for moving to in-person learning. Recent studies and local data indicate that schools are not the primary source of COVID spread (with the exception of sports). We have a detailed plan to return and feel it’s time to put a more specific timeline together.

We believe in science. If the current spike does not subside, we may have to continue Distance Learning semester two. We will continue to engage our advisory groups and plan to host a series of community meetings to hear from each of you. Please see the timeline for GDPST re-entry:

CHOOSING HOMESCHOOL LEARNING or IN-PERSON LEARNING

Between November 9 and 23, we will ask families to commit to either In-Person or Homeschool Learning upon return via our student enrollment system, SchoolMint. Families will be asked to commit to a learning model for a month at a time. Unlike SCS, families who do not choose a designation will be assumed to continue with Homeschool Learning. We will work on multiple forms of communication to ensure that families are actively making the choice for their students.

We’re looking forward to working with you on a successful transition to our next phase of schooling.

Need WiFi at home?

Green Dot Public Schools TN understands the technology gap that exists for families in our communities. We are proud to be able to partner with Comcast to provide six months of free internet service to enrolled families who qualify. After the six months of free service, families will have the opportunity to continue, with a nominal fee.

We have extended this opportunity to all of our current students and have received an overwhelming response. Fortunately, we are able to extend this to newly enrolled students as well. So, if there are families contemplating enrollment but are afraid they will not have access to internet for their students to attend distance learning, we will work to get them enrolled, assign a laptop and set them up with Comcast for WiFi.

Please email your full name, your student's full name, and your best contact number to [email protected] or call your student's school to sign up today!
