How Two Green Dot Students Wound Up on the Hamilton Stage


Last fall, over 50 students and a dozen chaperones from Oscar De La Hoya Ánimo Charter High School, Ánimo Venice Charter High School, and Ánimo Jackie Robinson Charter High School, traveled to the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood to attend a special performance of the smash-hit musical Hamilton.


Green Dot Students Turn English Lessons into Modern Dance


The Heidi Duckler Dance Theater recently concluded a six-week residency program at Ánimo Jefferson Charter Middle School, where students learned how to interpret subject matter from their English class into contemporary dance. This November, students showcased their hard work in a recital for family and friends.


What August Wilson, Denzel Washington and Ánimo Leadership Students Have in Common


This semester, drama students at Ánimo Leadership Charter High School were chosen by the Center Theatre Group to participate in an August Wilson residency, created to advance students’ development as scholars and artists. Wilson was a Pulitzer Prize winning playwright, whose work included Fences, which was adapted for the screen by Denzel Washington and nominated for four Academy Awards this year.
